The Client Contract
This chapter deals with the contractual relationship between lawyer and client. The contract is the legal basis for establishing what services a lawyer has agreed to provide and the fee payable. It is important to know how the contract may come into existence and how it may be terminated. Particular types of client give rise to particular contractual issues. The chapter reviews the areas often covered by solicitors’ standard terms. Finally it considers the contractual terms now used by barristers.
