Chapter 2


This chapter considers how lawyers are authorised to practise and the authorisation frameworks that the various approved regulators apply to authorised persons, both individuals and entities.

Those carrying on reserved legal activities are required to be authorised by an approved regulator. This applies both to the individual practitioner and the entity through which the service is being provided.

The criteria for authorisation, practice rights, permitted modes of practice and the regulation of entities are explored below in respect of each approved regulator.
